Project overview
Local Land Services works with landholders to:
- develop a profile for their property
- assess, map and document the natural assets of their property.
Local Land Services supplied recommendations to help landholders improve their property’s assets and provide a pathway to potential financial gains.
Project objectives
This project will help landholders to:
- set sustainability goals for farm businesses
- prioritise actions to improve on ground management
- utilise baseline data as an evidence base for environmental reporting requirements such as ESG, supply chain accreditation and/or, industry reporting
- recognise the environmental services potentially being provided on-farm
- recognise opportunities to monetise these assets and environmental services
- identify where there may be environmental risks to businesses.
Project background
Natural assets include:
- farm waterways
- native vegetation
- rocky outcrops
- soils
- cultural heritage.
Project delivery
This project developed a profile and baseline condition of the natural capital assets and included:
- online learning
- desktop mapping
- site visits.
Project outcomes
- Development of natural capital profiles for participating landholders.
- Support for landholders to commence benchmarking sustainability initiatives and measure carbon.
- Recommendations to landholders to encourage holistic management.
