Project overview
VegNET NSW covers Greater Sydney, North Coast and Central Tablelands Local Land Services regions.
Key topics are:
- improving water and nutrient management for NSW protected cropping vegetables
- pest and disease management including biosecurity and farm hygiene
- soil health community of practice in Cultural and Linguistically Diverse (CaLD) groups and field growers.
Project objectives
Local Land Services VegNET NSW program aims to support growers and producers to apply new learnings to make their businesses more sustainable and profitable. The program aims to improve:
- crop scheduling
- irrigation efficiency
- energy efficiency
- soil health
- pest and disease control
- weed management
- food safety
- farm management.
Project delivery
The VegNET NSW program keeps Australian vegetable growers informed about:
- current research and development activities
- research and development results
- resources.
Local Land Services supports the adoption of industry best practice and bolstering vegetable productivity and profitability in key growing areas across the country. The network also gathers information on future needs for research to assist the industry.
