Deniliquin mums share breastfeeding experiences in new video
A group of Deniliquin women have shared their experiences with breastfeeding in a new educational video.
The video was the idea of the midwifery team at Deniliquin Health Service and created as an education and support tool for new mothers and families.
The women, from the Deniliquin area, shared their thoughts and experiences on their breastfeeding journey.
Rachel Bull, a registered nurse and midwife at Deniliquin, was one of the staff members who developed the idea for the video and also shared some of her own experiences with breastfeeding.
“Breastfeeding nurtures the wellbeing of both mother and baby, offering meaningful scientific, emotional, and cultural benefits,” Ms Bull said.
“We wanted to create a resource that would resonate with breastfeeding mums in our local community. We wanted to share women’s lived experiences.
“We are thrilled by the support we received from mums who were happy to be involved.”
Mother of three Emily Butcher was one of the women to share her story in the video, admitting that initially she found breastfeeding hard, but it got easier.
“It’s a learned skill for each mum and baby,” she said.
