Generous donation to Griffith Base Hospital
Murrumbidgee Local Health District would like to thank Griffith Base Hospital Pioneers Trust Fund for its donation of $327,500 to Griffith Base Hospital.
The Griffith Base Hospital Pioneers Trust Fund (GBHPTF) is a charity set up for the sole purpose of providing financial assistance to the Griffith Base Hospital. It assists the hospital to purchase equipment, machinery or provisions for the staff and patients.
Fund Secretary, Mr Morris Massarotto, said the Fund was established in 1965 to provide assistance to the-then Griffith District Hospital. The first trustees were district pioneers, Jack and Nesta McWilliam.
“Mr McWilliam was a long-serving and dedicated member of the Hospital Board and it was his wish that the Fund serve as a practical memorial to the early pioneers who settle the area,” Mr Massarotto said.
“It was his hope that the Fund would be built on by others who felt like him, as the district had been good to them, then in turn this was how thanks could be practically demonstrated, by doing something for the welfare of future generations.
“We are delighted that Mr McWilliam’s heartfelt wish continues to be realised. Since its inception, the Fund has donated more than $1.2 million to Griffith Base Hospital.”
Griffith Base Hospital General Manager, Ms Joanne Garlick, said the Fund’s long-standing support of Griffith Base Hospital was deeply appreciated.
“We are grateful for the donation, which will be used to buy additional equipment to benefit patients, staff and visitors,” she said.
