Open Day at Leeton District Hospital
Leeton District Hospital is preparing to welcome the community to an Open Day, which offer the opportunity to meet the staff and see the facilities firsthand.
Facility Manager Amy Thorn said the day, on Thursday 10 April 2025, will feature a simulated emergency department exercise, as well as an opportunity to visit to Leeton’s Maternity Group Practice and a tour through Carramar Aged Care to join the staff, residents and volunteers for lunch and refreshments.
“We have a beautiful facility here at Leeton District Hospital, and an incredible team of highly trained staff. We are excited to invite the community to come and meet them,” Ms Thorn said.
It will also be a chance to see the staff in action, demonstrating the advanced technology and new models of care available for patients.
“The open day will start in the emergency department where we will simulate an emergency response to showcase the skills of our staff and demonstrate the use of the Remote Medical Consultation Service, a virtual care system that enables us to call on a doctor at any time, day or night,” Ms Thorn said.
“We will also demonstrate the new Emergency Care and Treatment (ECAT) protocols that our highly trained staff use to ensure patients start their treatment as soon as possible and spend less time in the emergency department.
“No-one plans to end up in the emergency department, but we hope that seeing our team in action, and the technology that we have available, is reassuring for anyone who finds themselves in need of emergency care in the future.”
Following the emergency scenario and hospital demonstrations, guests will be able to participate in tours through the Midwifery Group Practice and Residential Aged Care Facility.
“We have 38 residents who call our facility home and we are proud of the high standard of care we provide,” Ms Thorn said.
“It is a warm and friendly environment, with lots of home comforts as well as regular activities and outings.”
The Open Day will be held from 10am to 12.30pm on Thursday 10 April 2025, and all are welcome to attend. No RSVP is required.
