The District’s Executive Services Manager for Communications, Setchen was one of three finalists in the category, along with Stephanie Dunstall, Nurse Educator Palliative Care, and Kathleen Matthews, the Senior Dental Officer in Wagga Wagga.
Setchen, who has been with the MLHD for 11 years, provides high level strategic advice to the Chief Executive and communications leadership to managers and teams.
As part of her role, Setchen is a strong advocate for the community through her dedication to the District’s Local Health Advisory Committees (LHACs).
“I think I must have the best job in the Murrumbidgee! It’s such a great honour to be nominated for a role that I enjoy doing so much,” she said.
“Every day, I have the privilege of working alongside our volunteers - the Local Health Advisory Committees - and provide whatever assistance I can for them to be a voice, to advocate and make life better for people in our communities.
“I only hope to match their enthusiasm and commitment and through my role we can together achieve positive outcomes for our region.”
The District celebrated the outstanding contribution of health professionals and volunteers from across the region at the 2024 MLHD Excellence Awards on Friday 14 June 2024.
More than 300 staff and guests were on hand to congratulate winners in 13 award categories at the ceremony on Friday night.
MLHD Executive Jill Ludford said it was an honour to recognise not only the winners, but all the nominees in this year’s Excellence Awards.
“It was a real showcase of great strengths and achievements, and a credit to our staff who have adapted and overcome obstacles to continue to deliver a high quality of service to people at every corner of our District,” she said.
