The Natural Resources Commission acknowledges and pays respects to the Aboriginal peoples of NSW, their elders past and present and their traditional lands and waters.
We recognise that Traditional Owners have a deep cultural, social, environmental, spiritual and economic connection to their lands and waters with ongoing knowledge of natural resource management.
Working with Aboriginal peoples to care for Country
Aboriginal peoples contribute a great deal to natural resource management. They have diverse and deep connections with our lands and waters that have developed over millennia. They continue to care for Country today.
We collaborate with Aboriginal peoples and organisations to support their full participation in natural resource management. This includes participation in decision‑making, leadership, and on‑ground action.
The natural resource management sector is characterised by Aboriginal interest and participation. However, this involvement needs to be strengthened.
We invite Aboriginal NRM knowledge holders, thought leaders and experts to get in touch with us. You can share your background, knowledge and stories. This helps inform our reviews and advice.
