The Natural Resources Commission follows the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998. This Act sets the rules for how we collect, use, disclose and store your personal information.
What personal information we collect and how we use it
We collect only the minimum personal information required for lawful purposes directly related to our functions as a NSW Government body.
This may include information provided through:
- employment and human resource management
- management of contracts
- correspondence and feedback from the public
- complaints
- requests under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act).
We use this information for the purpose it was collected and for directly related purposes, such as:
- responding to enquiries or feedback
- managing subscriptions (with opt-out options)
- processing GIPA Act requests.
We will not use your information for any other purpose unless you have given consent or we are authorised or required by law.
We may share your information:
- with service providers acting on our behalf (under strict compliance with privacy laws)
- with other NSW Government agencies if necessary to respond to your enquiry or provide services
- with authorised staff handling GIPA Act applications.
Storage and security
We store your personal information securely and delete it when no longer required.

You do not have to provide personal information through this website. However, we may not be able to respond to your enquiry without contact details.

Register of government contracts
The Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 requires that all of our contracts with the private sector valued over $150,000 be recorded in the Register of government contracts, which is published on the NSW eTendering website.
The details of each contract are entered into the register of government contracts within 45 working days of the contract coming into effect, and remain on the register for 20 working days or until the contract is complete, whichever is longer.
