The Natural Resources Commission (NRC) invites submissions on our reviews from community members and stakeholders. Your feedback helps shape our findings and recommendations.
This policy explains:
- How to make a submission
- What to include in a submission
- How to send your submission
- What we do with your submission
How to make a submission
Our public consultations are listed in the Have your say NSW Government portal.
A submission should:
- Clearly state which review it relates to
- Address the issues raised in the review (you do not need to cover all issues)
- Include your contact details: name, organisation (if any), email and postal address
If you want to make an anonymous submission or ask that your name is not published, see Anonymous submissions below.
Sending your submission
We prefer submissions through the online form, where available, such as on Have your say consultations. You can also send submissions by:
- Email: nrc@nrc.nsw.gov.au
- Mail: Natural Resources Commission, GPO Box 5341, Sydney NSW 2001
Send your submission by the published due date. We may consider late submissions or requests for extensions at our discretion.
Authority
If you submit on behalf of an organisation, make sure you have its authority.
Confidential or anonymous submissions
If you want your submission to be confidential or anonymous, see the sections below.
Copyright
You are responsible for obtaining licences for any copyrighted material in your submission. You must authorise us to use and publish that material online.
What we do with your submission
We usually publish submissions and the name of the person or organisation on our website unless you ask us not to.
We may choose not to publish a submission, in whole or part, if it is very long, offensive, defamatory, or outside the scope of the review.
Personal information
We remove email addresses, home or postal addresses, and phone numbers before publishing. We generally publish your name, position (if relevant), and organisation (if relevant).
We handle personal information under the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998. Requests for access to confidential submissions follow the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act).
For details on privacy and GIPA, see our Privacy and information access page.
Confidential submissions
You can ask us to treat your submission, or parts of it, as confidential. Please provide reasons for this.
We do not publish confidential submissions. We may need to disclose confidential information if required by law. Requests for access follow the GIPA Act and other laws.
Anonymous submissions
You can ask us not to publish your name or choose not to give your name. Including contact details helps us consult with you if needed.
If you do not provide your name and do not claim confidentiality, we will publish your submission. We may give less weight to anonymous submissions because we cannot verify their content.
Late submissions
Submitting by the deadline helps us consider your views. If you lodge late, we consider factors such as your reason, whether you sought an extension, and whether we have time to review it. We may give less weight to late submissions.
