2024 Together Blue Mountains Awards
On 1 November, we celebrated our Blue Mountains Hospital and Springwood Hospital medical and medical imaging staff at the 2024 Together Blue Mountains Awards.

It was an opportunity to recognise and appreciate the immense contributions of our Blue Mountains and Springwood workforce. Their dedication, skill and compassionate care play a crucial role in the health and wellbeing of our community.
Winners of the awards were announced in a special ceremony presentation on Friday 1 November.

Outstanding Professional Support Staff member
Holly Stephenson

Holly always demonstrates the NSW Health CORE values and goes above and beyond in her role as the Medical Administration Manager for Blue Mountains and Springwood Hospitals.
She strives to ensure that medical staff are a well-supported, engaged workforce. She has shown immense dedication to her role, mentoring her staff and working tirelessly to ensure Blue Mountains received ongoing medical accreditation.
She has also proactively assisted both Lithgow and Hawkesbury Hospitals with their medical workforce, always generous with her time and assistance.
Outstanding Clinician
Sarah Pemberton

Sarah has been recognised for her bedside manner and dedication to providing thorough interventions for her patients.
She is an outstanding advocate for her patients, always ensuring that they understand the information provided, and is flexible in her approach in providing support to her patients.
Her dedication and support are always 110%, and she does it all with a big smile and a laugh. Sarah has also been recognised for her contribution in guiding and assisting her colleagues.
Inspiring Leader Award
Frances Hill-Murray
Frances’ extensive knowledge and experience working at Blue Mountains Hospital helps with understanding the needs of the local community and its members, including staff, visitors, patients and their families and supports. She always demonstrates a positive attitude every shift and her interactions with others is always respectful and courteous.
Frances is a leader who is patient focused, collaborative, consultative and openly shares her knowledge and experience with her colleagues. She is able to problem solve and manage challenging situations through the engagement of the team, and empowers staff to work to a high standard.
People Focused Award
Amy Sullivan

Amy exemplifies exceptional human-centred care and customer service. She actively seeks feedback from patients and staff, using it to streamline administrative processes.
Her ability to listen and respond to people's needs has improved patient experiences, allowing clinical staff to focus on delivering care without administrative delays. Amy’s ability to boost morale and bring people together is second to none, making people smile is what Amy does best.
She is a champion of cultural diversity, implementing initiatives to promote the inclusivity of the diverse Springwood Hospital community.
Collaborate for Success
Reenie Kuypers

Reenie displays a passion and vision for her role as a Nursing and Midwifery Unit Manager. She is a strong advocate for her nursing and midwifery teams, as well as the administrative and medical staff within her department.
She is holistic in her approach to care and supports her team to follow a similar approach. Reenie speaks up about areas of concern and works with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement solutions.
She communicates exceptionally well and works tirelessly to improve the outcomes for the patients under her care. She is committed to excellence, and is respectful, approachable and committed to the coaching and development of her team.
Above and Beyond Consumers Choice Award
Maternity Unit

The Maternity Unit at Blue Mountains Hospital provides exceptional and collaborative care to the community.
Led by Nursing and Midwifery Unit Manager, Reenie Kuypers, midwives and physicians are always willing to collaborate in achieving the best possible outcomes for the women in their care.
From helping women access services, providing consultations, booking clinics and ultrasounds, and caring for inpatient women, the Maternity Unit should be recognised and celebrated for providing a comprehensive and collaborative service to the women and families of the Blue Mountains.
