A Legacy of Care: 50 Years of Nursing
For half a century, Bronwyn Warne has been a guiding force in Community Health, shaping both the nursing workforce and the care delivered across NBMLHD. As she celebrates 50 years of service, Bronwyn reflects on a career built on compassion, mentorship, and a deep commitment to making a difference in people’s lives.

Inspired by her mother, a nurse who balanced caring for her family with supporting those around her, Bronwyn knew early that nursing was her path. In 1976, she began her training at Prince Henry Hospital, embarking on a career that would span decades of change, growth, and impact.
“I have honestly always enjoyed nursing; being there for people, sharing their joys and losses, making a difference,” says Bronwyn.
Over the years, Bronwyn’s career has been marked by both innovation and achievement. She recalls being one of the first Registered Nurses to administer chemotherapy at Nepean Hospital in the early 1990s, an experience that reflects her willingness to step into new and evolving areas of care. She later completed her Master’s Degree in 2008 and contributed to community nursing research, with her work published in academic journals.
While her clinical and academic achievements are significant, Bronwyn’s legacy lies in the people she has supported along the way. Many nurses working across PCCH today began as new graduates under her leadership, benefiting from her steady guidance, encouragement, and approachable leadership style.
“I’ve always encouraged and supported staff in their endeavours, working with them and guiding them in a collegial way,” she says.
Her commitment to mentoring, combined with her openness to listening and providing feedback, has helped foster a strong, supportive culture within the service, one that continues to thrive.
Outside of work, Bronwyn finds her greatest joy in her family. A proud mother of two and grandmother of five, she treasures time spent with her grandchildren, who bring balance and happiness to her life. She also has a passion for travel, collecting earrings from around the world, each with its own story. A recent trip to Singapore with her entire family created memories she holds close.
Through five decades of service, Bronwyn has remained passionate about nursing, driven by the connections she forms with patients and colleagues alike.
Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District warmly congratulates Bronwyn on her remarkable 50 years of service and thanks her for the lasting contribution she has made to our staff, our patients, and our community.
