General Manager announced for Lithgow and Blue Mountains region health services
Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District has appointed a General Manager to lead Lithgow Hospital, Blue Mountains District ANZAC Memorial Hospital, Springwood Hospital and Portland Tabulam MPS.

These facilities have been united under one General Manager since 2023 with the change announced in December 2025 making the unified executive structure permanent.
NBMLHD Chief Executive Brad Astill says a single General Manager for the facilities supports a coordinated delivery of care across the region bringing benefits for patients and staff.
“I am delighted to announce Lyn Day, a highly experienced and well-respected health care services leader has been appointed to the position of General Manager for Lithgow, Blue Mountains and Springwood Hospitals as well as Portland Tabulam MPS. Lyn has been acting in the role for some time and has many years of service leading complex health services,” says Brad.
“Our facilities in the Lithgow and Blue Mountains region are highly valued for delivering compassionate, high quality, local healthcare for their communities. This will continue under the unified General Manager structure. There will be no reduction in services.”
The facilities have been temporarily under one General Manager since 2023, during this time performance at these facilities improved.
In the latest available independent Bureau of Health Information data on planned (elective) surgery performance, 97% at Blue Mountains, an 8-percentage point improvement since 2023 and Lithgow has maintained an impressive 99% on time performance.
Time to start treatment in the busy Blue Mountains Hospital emergency department has also improved since 2023 by 11 percentage points to 74% in the latest results for April to June 2025 while Lithgow has improved 4 percentage points to 81%.
NBMLHD continues to invest in the facilities recently completing an extensive refurbishment and upgrade to the Lithgow Hospital central sterilising services department and Blue Mountains Hospital receiving $25 million for essential upgrades to the facility and to begin planning for a future redevelopment.
There will be no jobs lost as a result of the change in executive structure at the facilities.
Staff have been informed of the new executive structure.
