Staff awarded for excellence in patient-centred care
Staff from Nepean, Lithgow, Blue Mountains, and Hawkesbury hospitals have been recognised by their local community for their commitment to providing exceptional and compassionate patient care, receiving accolades at Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District annual Together Awards ceremonies.
The Above and Beyond Consumer Award is a community nominated honour that highlights the extraordinary efforts of staff whose dedication, empathy, and professionalism have made a lasting impact on patients and families.
Each facility hosted its own special celebration, where winners were announced and honoured for going above and beyond in their everyday roles.

Together Nepean
Winner: Virginia Linnegar

“Virginia looked after a family member today with great care and dignity. Family member confused and very unwell with dementia, Virginia went over and beyond to get treatment and bloods and scans done on him, admitted him for further assessment by a geriatrician and when this was done he was discharged. Very caring capable nurse.”

Together Lithgow
Winner: Harriet Higuit

“Harriet is always compassionate and caring when working with patients and their families. She goes above and beyond every day to ensure they have the best possible experience while in the emergency department. She ensures each patient is listened to, actively advocates for their needs, and consistently delivers excellent patient care. Patients often praise her kindness and gentle nature, and she provides reassurance to both them and their families during challenging times.”
Nurse Unit Manager, Rodney Davis says “Harriet provides compassionate and holistic care to her patients and their families. She is committed to ensure best outcomes, escalating concerns and needs for consumers in the delivery of critical care within the Emergency and Close Observation Ward in Lithgow Hospital. Harriet has been praised with feedback to her kind and gentle nature, with active listening and reassurance provided to patients and their families during challenging situations, providing personalised and a patient cantered approach to individual needs.”
Together Blue Mountains
Winner: Springwood Hospital
