Chronic pain patients can access specialist appointments, tests and procedures without being admitted to hospital.
About us
Our chronic pain service provides you with relevant information, treatment, and advice aimed at improving your quality of life.
Referral information
We see patients 18 years and older (or aged 16 to 18 years if transitioning from a paediatric pain service).
The patient must also have:
- a significant pain condition impacting on physical and psychological health
- ongoing pain more than 3 months
- no active substance abuse.
The patient will need a GP to fax us the following:
- a letter addressed to Nepean Pain Clinic or one of the following:
- Dr Gurbir Kaur.
- Dr Claudia Higgs.
- Dr Tejas Kanhere.
- Dr Alan Nazha.
GPs and referring clinicians can access referral forms in the Nepean Blue Mountains LHD outpatient referral catalogue.
Once we receive the forms, we will contact the patient to arrange an introductory session, a pain program or a pain clinic appointment.
Clinic and program details
The Chronic Pain Service runs clinics on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
We run 2 programs:
- Orientation and education program prior to assessment in pain clinic.
- COPE Pain Management group program – 6 week program (5 hours), 3 times a year on Tuesday only.
