Patients requiring rehabilitation can access specialist appointments, tests and procedures without being admitted to hospital.
About us
We see patients who are 18 years or older, live within the district and have decreased function due to:
- orthopaedic conditions including fractures, joint replacements
- deconditioning after medical conditions (for example pneumonia) or surgery
- neurological conditions, including stroke, Parkinson’s disease, GBS, MS, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, motor neuron disease or polio
- spinal conditions including spinal cord injuries, compression, post-surgery
- amputation and orthotic treatment and assessments for prosthetics.
Referral information
Patients will need a referral from their specialist or GP (general practitioner) including details of their patient history, current medications and symptoms, addressed to one of our specialists for the preferred clinic. Appointments cannot be made over the phone.

The following specialist services are available at the Nepean Hospital rehabilitation clinic.
Making an appointment
Adults with lower limb amputations, or lower limb weakness, or lower limb deformities, and who live in the Nepean Blue Mountains LHD area.
Patients who live ‘out of area’ may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Patients will need a referral from their doctor or GP (general practitioner) including details of their patient history, current medications and symptoms, addressed to one of our specialists.

Hours of service
The clinic is held every 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month to assess and review lower limb amputees and their rehabilitation needs, including prosthetic assessment, fitting, and training as well as patients requiring or may require lower limb orthosis prescription. The patients would normally be seen by one of the rehabilitation specialists, a prosthetist/orthotist and a physiotherapist.

Making an appointment
For patients that need Rehabilitation from a medical condition or episode due to decreased function.
Patients will need a referral from their doctor or GP (general practitioner) including details of their patient history, current medications and symptoms, addressed to one of our specialists.
Service available on Monday, Thursday and Friday dependant on clinicians.
Patients who live ‘out of area’ may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

The Spasticity Clinic specialises in the evaluation and treatment of spasticity. Spasticity may be a consequence of neurological conditions, including stroke, acquired brain injuries, Parkinson’s disease, GBS, MS, cerebral palsy, motor neuron disease and spinal conditions.
Patients who live ‘out of area’ may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
