The Nepean BPT Network offers additional training and professional development opportunities designed to support physicians at every stage of their Basic Physician Training journey. Trainees can broaden their professional capabilities, and gain exposure to a wide variety of educational experiences that complement their core training requirements.
Advanced Life Support
Advanced Life Support refresher courses are available on-site and are free of charge.
BASIC Intensive Care Course
The Basic Assessment and Support in Intensive Care (BASIC) course is a two-day program run by Nepean Hospital intensivists. It focuses on assessing and managing critically ill patients.
The course is recommended for all BPTs and mandatory for those undertaking ICU rotations.
Violence Prevention Training
Trainees receive training to safely manage difficult situations, including Code Black responses and challenging interactions with patients or visitors.
Teaching Opportunities
BPTs can also contribute to University of Sydney medical student teaching by working as clinical tutors and/or MMCA/OSCE examiners.
