RACP Divisional Written Examination Teaching Program
The Nepean BPT Network provides a structured teaching program to help trainees prepare for the RACP Divisional Written Examination (DWE).
Lectures
Consultant physicians deliver regular lectures throughout the year:
- February to May: Focus on core medical topics and practical approaches to common conditions such as acute coronary syndrome, diabetes mellitus, and common infections. These sessions help trainees prepare for the medical registrar role.
- June to December: Focus on more detailed topics to support exam preparation.
All lectures are teleconferenced to Bathurst Health Service, Ryde Hospital, and Tweed Valley Hospital, and recordings are available so trainees can review them later.
Clinical Meetings and Grand Rounds
Trainees also learn through regular clinical meetings:
- Division of Medicine Meetings – Wednesdays, 1–2pm
Each medical department presents one Masterclass and one Morbidity and Mortality session each year.
- Medical Grand Rounds – Thursdays, 1–2pm
Each medical department presents at least twice per year.
- Renal education sessions – Fridays
Lunch (including vegetarian options) is provided at these sessions. Presentations are also teleconferenced to partner hospitals.
Trial Written Examinations
BPTs participate in the three New South Wales trial RACP Written Examinations.
They also receive past trial exam papers with answers and explanations to support their preparation.
Study Leave
Trainees are encouraged to take two weeks of study leave before sitting the RACP Written Examination.
This time can be used to attend one of the major revision courses:
- DeltaMed (Melbourne)
- Royal Prince Alfred BPT Revision Course (Sydney)
- University of Otago RACP DWE Revision Course (Dunedin)
Any additional study leave can be used for further courses or independent study.
