DAP Resources

RA is developing a suite of resources to support councils and other DAP partners in the development and delivery of effective, community-focused disaster adaptation plans.

Councils, Joint Organisations and other partners can utilise the information and resources on the DAP information hub to work with communities to reduce disaster risk in their region.

We recommend you check back in on this page as it will be continually updated with more resources.

DAP resources in development

The NSW Reconstruction Authority (RA) will coordinate the development, approval and implementation of regional DAPs. To support this process RA will be creating DAP tools and resources, including:

Guidance and tools for engaging stakeholders and communities

Successful disaster adaptation planning requires collaboration between a range of stakeholders and the community. We are developing a series of resources to help DAP partners to engage with stakeholders and community effectively and appropriately in each DAP region.

Information and guidance for partnering with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders

This will include culturally appropriate guidance for ensuring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and landowners, including Discrete Aboriginal Communities, are appropriately engaged as a key partner in the DAP process.

Tools for assuring DAPs

We are in the process of developing tools to support the assurance process of DAPs which will review the activities at each stage to ensure they meet the expected quality standards.

Tools for measuring and assessing risk

We are developing a centralised hub of methods, data and expertise to assess disaster risk and improve alignment across all levels of government.

Through the DAP process, the hub will give a picture of hazard risk at a regional-level, providing data-driven insights to inform planning, policy and funding decisions.

Case studies

We are collating a series of case studies and examples of successful disaster risk reduction activities and engagement in practice.

If you’d like to contribute a case study please email dap@reconstruction.nsw.gov.au.
