Emergency wi-fi Terms of Use
By using the NSW Government emergency wi-fi service, you agree to these Terms of Use.
Terms of Use
Accessing this service
The NSW Government emergency wi-fi ('the Service') is provided free of charge for temporary public use during emergencies to support light personal use, such as communicating with family and friends or accessing essential information. By connecting to the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms of Use ('Terms'). If you do not agree with these Terms, you must not access the Service.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to engage in unlawful activities or access content that violates any laws. Uploading, downloading, or sharing material that is defamatory, offensive, obscene, infringes on others’ rights, or involves fraud, abuse, or malicious intent is prohibited. Attempts to compromise network security, disrupt functionality, damage devices, distribute malware, or degrade network performance are also prohibited.
Privacy and Usage Monitoring
The Service logs data such as your device’s IP and MAC addresses, session duration, network usage, and websites accessed for security, performance, troubleshooting, and compliance purposes. By connecting, you consent to this monitoring. We do not collect personal information like names, emails, or passwords. To learn more about how we collect, use, and store personal information, read our Privacy Policy.
Staying safe online
The Service is an open network and may not be secure. Protect your data and devices by limiting browsing to secure webpages (look for 'https://' and the lock symbol) and avoiding sensitive activities like entering usernames, passwords, or financial details on unsecured sites. Disable file sharing, and if possible, use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) for added security.
Liability
The Service is provided 'as is' and 'as available' without guarantees of reliability, availability, or security. The NSW Government is not liable for any damages, losses, or interruptions resulting from your use of the Service. Use is at your own risk.
Termination of Access
We may suspend, limit, or terminate the Service, either as a whole or for individual users, for misuse, technical issues, security concerns, or operational reasons.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any disputes arising from the use of the Service will be resolved under the jurisdiction of the courts in NSW.
