Orange Gather and Grow event connects Aboriginal businesses with education and project opportunities
Aboriginal businesses and workers in the Central West are invited to a free Gather and Grow event in Orange on 16 June to learn about education, training and upcoming work opportunities.
The event will run from 10am to 1pm and will highlight the expanded First Nations Engagement in School Infrastructure (FNESI) program. It will bring together Aboriginal businesses, government agencies, industry and support services so people can meet, share information and learn about pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Orange is the first Gather and Grow event for 2026. More sessions will be held across regional and metropolitan NSW from June to November, including Taree, Tamworth, Western Sydney and Albury. These sessions will focus on opportunities in health, transport, infrastructure, ICT and regional development.
Gather and Grow is an NSW Government program that helps Aboriginal businesses understand how to work with government, meet the right people and get ready for future opportunities. The sessions are free and open to Aboriginal businesses, project teams, contractors, local government and employment providers.
The program supports the NSW Government’s Aboriginal Procurement Policy and helps create stronger economic opportunities for Aboriginal people and communities across NSW.

“We welcome Aboriginal businesses, workers and community members who want to learn more and be part of the day.”
FNESI spokesperson Sharmika Blackman, proud Wiradjuri/Ngiyampaa woman said:

“The Orange session will focus on education and skills and will help local businesses and workers understand what is available and how to get involved.
“By bringing people together in one place, the event makes it easier to build relationships, share information and open up new opportunities.”
