Team up with NSW Treasury at the Koori Knockout
NSW Treasury is proud to be back at the Koori Knockout to support strong cultural partnerships, Aboriginal business, employment, and training aspirations.
The 2026 Koori Knockout will be hosted by the Newcastle Yowies at King Park Sporting Complex, Raymond Terrace, on Worimi Country, from 2 to 5 October 2026.
Community members and footy fans alike are invited to yarn with Treasury at the NSW Treasury stall, open at the knockout from Friday to Sunday, to uncover stronger pathways into government procurement and employment.
The Koori Knockout presents a perfect pitch for NSW Treasury to hear community perspectives and highlight opportunities in the public sector that drive stronger outcomes for Aboriginal people and communities.
"The Koori Knockout is more than a sporting event. It is a celebration of culture, connection and community that brings people together and creates lasting positive impacts,” NSW Treasury Acting Secretary, Liz Livingstone said.
“NSW Treasury is proud to support an event that strengthens communities and promotes opportunities for Aboriginal people across NSW.”
NSW Treasury is committed to working in partnership with Aboriginal communities and connecting First Nations businesses to NSW Government contract opportunities.
NSW Government agencies delivered $383.9 million in procurement spend in 2024-25 and 470 contracts with Aboriginal businesses, helping create economic opportunities, jobs and long-term business growth for Aboriginal communities.
NSW Treasury plays a key role in supporting Aboriginal economic participation through initiatives including the Aboriginal Procurement Policy, the First Nations Investment Framework and research into the growth of the NSW First Nations business sector.
NSW has more registered Aboriginal businesses than any other state or territory, with over 940 businesses, representing more than 31 per cent of First Nations businesses nationwide.
This year’s Knockout on Worimi Country is expected to attract up to 40,000 people with around 10,000 attendees per day from across NSW and provide a boost to the local Hunter economy.
