In 2025, the NSW and South Australian Governments executed the inaugural Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Cross-Border Collaboration, signed by South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas MP and NSW Premier Chris Minns MP. The agreement confirms both governments' commitment to working together to improve service delivery, strengthen community resilience and support economic development across cross-border communities.
The MoU establishes a formal framework for collaboration between NSW and South Australia and reflects the ongoing work of the respective Cross-Border Commissioners. As the first agreement of its kind between the two jurisdictions, it provides a foundation for identifying and resolving cross-border issues affecting residents, businesses and communities along the NSW-South Australia border.
