About the program
Get Back in the Game (GBIG) supports disengaged young people aged 15 to 21 to engage with employment, education and training through a structured wraparound case management service.
GBIG provides support to young people through two distinct pathways:
- Back in the Game - school pathway: supports young people aged 15 to 19 at school to remain engaged or transition to employment or training.
- Get in the Game - community pathway: supports young people aged 15 to 21 disengaged from employment, education and training.
The program takes a place-based and youth focused delivery approach and is delivered by service providers that have strong local connections and experience in working with their communities.
The program is being delivered in Capital and South Coast and Southern Highlands, Central Coast, Central West, Far West and Orana, Mid North Coast, Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Hunter Valley, New England and North West, North Coast, Outer West and Blue Mountains, Riverina, and Western and South Western Sydney.
The NSW and Commonwealth Governments are co-funding the program, each contributing up to $5m.
