Aboriginal Participation Strategy

The Aboriginal Participation Strategy aims to support employment opportunities for Aboriginal people within Aboriginal owned and non-Aboriginal owned businesses, and sustainable growth of Aboriginal owned businesses by driving demand via government procurement of goods and services.

Strategy Procedures

The Cabinet Office and the Premier’s Department will aim to:

  • Identify indigenous suppliers on whole of government contracts and prequalification schemes
  • Investigate potential new suppliers that can meet procurement needs via databases such as Supply Nation and promote their use within the Department
  • Work to support the capacity growth and development of Indigenous small businesses where possible
  • Encourage staff with purchasing cards to consider engaging indigenous suppliers of goods and services where possible.
