About the Strategy
NSW’s first LGBTIQA+ Inclusion Strategy will set out a coordinated, whole of government approach to:
- Understand and address the barriers and inequities faced by LGBTIQA+ communities
- Progress specific actions that will achieve equitable, inclusive outcomes
- Celebrate the diversity of LGBTIQA+ people and support them to thrive
The NSW LGBTIQA+ Inclusion Strategy will be released in 2026.
Consultation
In 2025, the NSW Government invited people across the state to help shape NSW’s first whole-of government LGBTIQA+ Inclusion Strategy.
An online survey opened to all members of the public to share feedback on how the Government can better support inclusion, safety and equality for LGBTIQA+ communities.
The survey explored people’s experiences with health care, education, safety, public services and social inclusion. It also asked about what respondents would like to see to improve their sense of inclusion.
The information gathered will help ensure the strategy reflects the voices, priorities and aspirations of LGBTIQA+ communities and the wider NSW population to make our communities stronger and more connected places for us all.
Roundtables
Expressions of interest (EOIs) have closed for the Roundtables. The Rountables were held to host LGBTIQA+ people across NSW to share their lived experience in discussions online to help shape the LGBTIQA+ Inclusion Strategy.
The roundtables focused on capturing diverse experiences to inform opportunities for legal and policy reform, strengthen safety, and improve service delivery to foster a NSW where LGBTIQA+ communities are resilient and celebrated
