Overview
Emergency risk management is an integral part of emergency management. Shifting dynamics, hazards and threats, driven by climate change, urbanisation and increased digital interconnectivity, are changing the frequency, intensity and distribution of the risks we face. As these environmental, technological and societal factors continue to evolve, so must the capability of the NSW emergency management sector.
The SERCA highlights where emergency management capabilities can be enhanced across prevention, preparation, response and recovery.
An evidence based capability assessment was conducted across key capability areas, informed by state and regional workshops exploring 17 catastrophic scenarios.
This report presents the key findings from the SERCA and makes 26 recommendations across 10 focus areas.
