The Mogo Wangganga Art Therapy Group, supported by Southern’s Aboriginal Health team, hosted an exhibition at the Bay Pavilions Clyde Gallery throughout July.
The Mogo Wangangga Art Exhibition was proudly presented by the members of the group and supported by Fire to Flourish Eurobodalla and Boomerang Meeting Place. Wangganga means Women in in the local Dhurga language.
The group meets weekly at the Boomerang Meeting Place in Mogo. The women gather to practice all art forms to support the healing of spirit, the connection to culture and to build a community of resilience.
The town of Mogo and the surrounding area was devastated by 2019/20 bushfires and to this day are still rebuilding homes and lives. The women have put together a collection of healing stories, journeys, and childhood memories.
The exhibition was part of NAIDOC week activities on the south coast, celebrating the 2024 theme “Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud.”
