Asbestos remediation works at GoulburnHospital this August
Work is scheduled to commence on Wednesday 13 August 2025 on the renal clinic building at Goulburn Base Hospital. The work involves repairs to building cladding and eaves, and asbestos remediation works. The asbestos removal work will be occurring in the external eaves and gable ends of the renal clinic building.
A NSW Class A licenced and reputable asbestos removal company has been engaged to conduct the asbestos removal. An NSW licenced, and reputable asbestos assessor has been engaged to provide oversight of the removal, provide air monitoring during all removal works, and to provide clearance on completion of the works. All asbestos containing material will be double bagged in approved asbestos disposal bags. These will be sealed and decontaminated prior to removal from the work area and placed in a covered asbestos designated skip. SafeWork NSW will be notified of this work occurring.
At no stage of this work will patients, staff, or visitors be exposed to asbestos containing material. The area of works will be suitably quarantined from all adjoining spaces and will have appropriate signage.
A temporary perimeter fence will be erected around the work zones with no risk of asbestos exposure to building occupants or movement outside of the perimeter fence. Access to some external pathway areas and carparks will be blocked for the duration of the works.
