Southern NSW Local Health District is developing a Multicultural Health Plan. The plan will guide how we support people from migrant and refugee backgrounds across Southern NSW. Your feedback will help us improve how we deliver care and make sure our services are safe, welcoming and accessible for everyone.
We want to hear from people from migrant and refugee backgrounds, and from our staff and communities who support them. Your feedback will help us improve how we deliver care and make sure our services are safe, welcoming and accessible for everyone.
We want to hear about your experiences and ideas for:
- improving access to health services
- making communication clearer and easier to understand
- increasing the use of interpreters and translated resources
- strengthening referral pathways and care coordination
- developing culturally responsive models of care
- supporting staff to provide culturally safe care
- building stronger partnerships with multicultural communities
Community
We are inviting community members from migrant and refugee backgrounds, and the communities who support them to share their experiences and ideas.
Take our community survey to share your views on your experience with local health services. It takes only a few minutes and helps us understand what matters most to you.
Take part in a guided discussion with others in your community. You can share your story and talk about what matters most to you.

Staff consultation
Whether you work directly with patients and consumers or support our services behind the scenes, your insights will help us better understand the needs of multicultural communities and identify opportunities to improve care.
Take our staff survey to share your views on your experience with supporting people from migrant and refugee backgrounds. It takes only a few minutes and helps us understand what matters most to you. The survey is open until 10 August 2026.
Members of the Population Health team will be visiting selected facilities across the district. If we visit your site, we encourage you to come and have a conversation with us about your experiences and ideas for improving care for people from migrant and refugee backgrounds.
The team will be visiting Cooma on 21 July, and Queanbeyan on 23 July, with more dates and sites to be announced - keep an eye on local communications.
Join an online staff consultation session to hear more about the plan and share your insights. Sessions will be held on 4 August and 13 August - an invitation to join has been emailed to all Southern staff.
