The Live Music and All Ages Programming was incredibly competitive, with a large volume of applications. The success rate for the funding round was 24%.

How were applications assessed?

Applications were assessed by a group of industry assessors, against the weighted assessment criteria:

• Benefit to the grassroot contemporary music ecosystem in NSW.
• Connection with your local music scene or community.
• Alignment with the program objectives.
• Viability of the activity.

Assessor Comments:

The assessors responded positively to the range of proposed activities, noting the geographic diversity of the regions in which they would be delivered, as well as the balance between new and established events.

General feedback included:

• Take the time to thoroughly review your application before submitting.
• Compliance documentation (including venue licensing information and Safety Plans) is essential, particularly if your activity is for All Ages.
• Evidence of Community consultation must be included to support your application to demonstrate collaboration with the community.
• Ensure letters of confirmation or support are relevant to the project, program and funding body you are applying to.
• Budgets should be detailed, outlining each income and expenditure item, including cash and in-kind support. Budgets should balance, and the grant request needs to be included as income.
• Quotes for key expenditure items should be included and relate back to the costs outlined in the budget
• This grant funding round is intended to support new activities or extensions to established events. Care should be taken to clearly articulate how the funding would enable this new or expanded activity.
• Confirmation of proposed artists involved in the activity and quotes for artists fee payments should be included, as well as venue confirmations.
• Any proposal involving First Nations activities must be supported by evidence of consultation with the relevant First Nations community.
• Applicants must demonstrate why the proposed activity is significant to both the NSW music ecosystem and the wider community, with impacts that extend beyond the direct benefits to their own business.
