Course overview
Introduction to Trauma Informed Practice will run across varied sessions to cover the following:
- What is Trauma? explores the biology, types and definitions of trauma.
- Safety Making explores meanings of safety and inclusive practice.
- Living with Trauma explores experiences of people living with trauma, coping strategies, and impacts of trauma, how to respond to disclosure, de-escalation strategies, relational work, and self-reflection.
- Vicarious Trauma supports the development of trauma-informed knowledge for workers and their organisations, definitions and impact of vicarious trauma, self-care, supervision, mentoring and helpful resources.
What you will learn
This training will develop knowledge and skills to:
- Recognise trauma and its impact
- Promote safety and inclusivity
- Support consumer control, choice and autonomy
- Identify and respond to distress
- Support individual and collective care
Who should enrol
- Anyone working with people with lived experiences of mental health
