Overview of this event
The refugee camp in my hospital project is a simulated refugee journey coming to Bankstown- Lidcombe Hospital for Refugee Week on Wednesday the 17th of June 2026. It aims to raise awareness about human rights and celebrate the contributions refugees make in our local community.
Take a health specific tour through a simulated refugee camp experience. You’ll experience the journey of a refugee and gain a better understanding of the challenges they face as they arrive in Australia. Tours are delivered by guides from a range of refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds, NSW Refugee Health and NSW Service for the Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture and Trauma Survivors staff.
Through this experience, participants will:
- Gain a deeper understanding of how the refugee experience impacts health and wellbeing
- Identify key risk factors affecting individuals and families from refugee backgrounds
- Develop practical strategies to improve access, engagement, and culturally responsive care
- Gain 1.5 CPD hours upon completion
Tour Details:
