Bus changes across the North West

As part of Transport’s plan to deliver a better bus network, we are looking for ways to improve bus journeys across North West Sydney.

This includes additional services on key routes, timetable changes, and route changes to help provide a better-connected public transport experience.

Upcoming bus improvements for school students in North West Sydney

From Monday 15 December, there will be timetable changes to some school bus services in North West Sydney.

These changes are being made to provide improved journey options for school students residing in the Melonba and Marsden Park areas.

Included in these changes is a new school bus route 6632 (Melonba Public School to Melonba via Abell Road) which will help provide students with more transport options whilst helping to reduce crowding on other bus routes.

Transport and our bus operators are working closely with schools that may be impacted by these changes, to ensure students and their communities are aware of the changes, and how they need to adjust their journeys. We encourage students to plan before they travel.

To ensure dedicated school services appear as a travel option for students, click ‘refine’ and select the ‘school bus’ option. Students are reminded to tap on and off on all trips.

Bus service improvements in Sydney’s North West from Sunday 30 November

From Sunday 30 November, there will be adjustments to some bus routes and timetables across North West Sydney.

These changes include:

Upgrading route 665 to an All Day Frequent Network (ADFN).
Timetable adjustments to better match passenger demand.
Increased use of higher capacity buses in some areas.
Improving North-West bus connections to M1 Metro services.
Introducing 2 new school services to provide students at Box Hill Public School a safe and reliable journey to and from school.

610X Castle Hill to City QVB (Express Service)	Timetable adjustments, more services Minor reduction to peak frequency but increased allocation of higher capacity buses to better match passenger demand. Additional trips on weekends to better reflect passenger demand.
611 Blacktown to Macquarie Park via M2 Motorway	Timetable adjustments, more services Additional trips on weekdays across the day and increased use of higher capacity buses to better match passenger demand.
612X Castle Hill to North Sydney (Express Service)	Timetable and route adjustments Route 612X will be shortened to no longer operate between Baulkham Hills and Castle Hill. Reduction to shoulder peak frequency, but increased frequency during the PM school peak to better match passenger demand.
613X Bella Vista to City QVB (Express Service)	Timetable changes Minor timetable changes will be introduced to improve service reliability and reflect operating conditions. Some trips will now start/end at Reston Grange near Norwest Blvd to better match passenger demand in this area.
614X Baulkham Hills or Winston Hills to City QVB (Express Service)	Timetable and route adjustments Route 614X will no longer operate north of Baulkham Hills (Seven Hills Road near Merindah Road), with every second trip also now starting/ending at Winston Hills Mall. Passengers can use alternative route 660 to connect with M1 Metro services at Norwest Station.
615X North Kellyville to City QVB (Express Service)	Timetable adjustments Most trips will no longer operate north of Kellyville (Acres Road near Windsor Road) to better match passenger demand and availability of alternative services. Minor timetable changes will be introduced to improve service reliability and reflect operating conditions.
616X Kellyville Ridge to City QVB (Express Service)	Timetable adjustments Some morning peak services will now start at Stanhope Village Shopping Centre to better match passenger demand. Adjustments to spacing of peak trips to better balance loadings during this period and reduce capacity pressure on individual trips. Minor timetable changes will be introduced to improve service reliability and reflect operating conditions.
620X Dural to City Wynyard via Cherrybrook (Express Service)	Timetable and route adjustments Route 620X will be shortened to no longer operate between Dural James Henty Drive and Cherrybrook Purchase Rd, due to low patronage. Passengers between James Henty Drive and Purchase Rd can use route 622 and transfer at Cherrybrook (Purchase Rd) or route 635 and transfer for Metro services at Cherrybrook.
622 Dural to Milsons Point via Cherrybrook	Timetable adjustments Some inbound trips will no longer operate between Dural and Cherrybrook, Purchase Rd and all outbound trips will no longer operate between Cherrybrook Purchase Rd and Dural. Minor timetable changes will be introduced to improve service reliability and reflect operating conditions.
634 Castle Hill to Castlewood loop service	New service New route operating between Castle Hill and Castlewood estate, formed by splitting route 660 into two separate routes (634 Castle Hill – Castlewood and 660 Castle Hill – Parramatta). Improved and more consistent service frequency, operating every 20 mins in the AM peak, every 15 mins in the PM peak and every 60 mins off peak and weekends. Operating a loop service improves operational efficiency.
642X Dural to City Wynyard (Express Service)	Timetable adjustments and more services Minor trip adjustments to better match passenger demand during peak periods. Saturday, Sunday and Public Holiday services to be introduced between Dural Round Corner and Cherrybrook metro station.
643 Gables to Rouse Hill via Box Hill	Timetable adjustments, more services One additional afternoon trip in the school peak.
652X West Pennant Hills to City Wynyard (Express Service)	Timetable adjustments Minor timetable changes will be introduced to improve service reliability and reflect operating conditions.
660 Castlewood to Parramatta via Norwest	Timetable and route adjustments, more services Adjusted route, operating between Castle Hill and Parramatta only. Service between Castlewood estate and Castle Hill will be provided by new route 634 Additional peak trips will operate between Winston Hills and Norwest and an earlier and later trip introduced on weekends to improve connectivity with M1 Metro services.
662 Castle Hill to Parramatta via Bella Vista and North West Tway	Timetable adjustments, more services Additional peak trips will operate between Baulkham Hills and Norwest and an earlier and later trip introduced on weekends to improve connectivity with M1 Metro services.
665 Rouse Hill Station to Parramatta	Timetable adjustments, more services Route 665 (Parramatta to Rouse Hill) will be upgraded to become part of the All Day Frequent Network (ADFN), with services to run every 10 minutes or better during the day and every 20 minutes or better early morning and late evening, seven days a week. Route 665 will also operate 24 hours on Friday and Saturday nights, introducing new overnight services between Parramatta and Rouse Hill. There will be higher capacity buses operating during peak periods to better match passenger demand. Changes to running times to better reflect journey times along the North West T-Way

Upcoming bus changes including school bus improvements for students

From Monday 19 May 2025, there will be timetable changes and route changes to provide improved travel options for students on some bus routes, including dedicated school services.

We encourage passengers and school communities to plan their journeys using the TfNSW Trip Planner which will be updated before Monday 19 May.  To ensure dedicated school services appear as a travel option for students, click refine and select the school bus option.  

Changes include:

Bus route 677 will have some minor timetable and route adjustments to the morning service. It will now operate via Bourke Street bus stop passengers can alight here for Richmond Agricultural Center at Western Sydney University.
Bus route 747 and 748 will have select trips in the mornings and afternoons to provide students of Melonba High School and Melonba Public School traveling to and from Melonba and Elara Estate with more travel options.

School bus route 6222	The Australian Christian	To better meet passenger demand the school will have two new afternoon buses route 6623 and 6624. Afternoon route 6622 will be discontinued. Some students may need to walk from bus stops further away then previously. Small increase to their current journey time.
School bus 5501	Hobartville Public School	Timetable and route change including a new stop at Richmond Agricultural Centre and will not divert via Richmond High School.
School bus route 5546	Richmond High School and St Paul’s Grammar	Timetable and route change to extend to Richmond Agriculture Centre and Penrith Station.

Changes to bus stops on Miller Street, North Sydney

From Sunday 30 March 2025, three bus stops along Miller Street, North Sydney will no longer operate.

The changes are to enable better connections with Sydney Metro, bus services will operate from an existing bus stop close by.

Bus stops no longer operating in North Sydney:

Miller Street at McLaren Street (TSN 206047), passengers can catch their regular services from the bus stop at Victoria Cross Station, Miller Street, Stand B.
Miller Street after McLaren Street (TSN 206019), passengers can catch their regular services from the bus stop at Victoria Cross Station, Miller Street Stand A.
Civic Park, Miller St (TSN 206082), students can catch their regular services from the bus stop at Victoria Cross Station, Miller Street, Stand B.

March 2025 bus changes

On Monday 3 March 2025, there will be timetable changes designed to provide passengers in the Sydney, North West and Hills District with better connections and a more reliable bus network.

The changes will also make it easier for commuters to access stations along the new Metro line to provide alternatives to driving and offer a smoother combined commute.

What’s changing?

Bus services in the Sydney, North West and the Hills District are being adjusted to better align to the community’s public transport needs. This will improve connections with Sydney Metro and the newly opened Parramatta Light Rail.

Changes to schools

January 2025 bus changes

On 19 January 2025, Transport introduced bus timetable changes designed to provide the community with better connections and more reliability in Sydney’s North West bus network.

Some areas will see more services and extended operating hours, with increased frequency for some routes, especially at peak times. Areas including:

Tallawong
Rouse Hill
Riverstone
Schofields
Box Hill
Bella Vista
North Kellyville.

The changes will also make it easier for commuters to access stations along the new Metro line to provide reliable alternatives to driving and offer a smoother combined commute.
