Bus changes across the North West and Hills District
As part of Transport’s plan to deliver a better bus network, we are looking for ways to improve bus journeys across Sydney.
This includes additional services on key routes, timetable changes, and route changes to help provide a better-connected public transport experience.

Bus changes
From Sunday 21 June 2026, there will be route and timetable changes to some bus services across the North West and Hills District, Sydney.
The NSW Government will also be reinstating the connection between Parramatta and the City, via West Ryde, based on community feedback. The new service will be known as Route 52.
The route will improve bus connections for communities between Parramatta and West Ryde primarily to provide faster access to and from the City.
Bus Route 52 will be added to the All Day Frequent Network (ADFN), with buses operating every 10 minutes or better during the day and every 20 minutes or better early morning and late evening, seven days a week.
There will be changes to other bus services on Victoria Road, including increases to service frequency and some route and timetable changes. In particular, route 501 will be changed to operate between Central and West Ryde, routes 500X and 500N are replaced by new route 52, and route 525 will be altered to operate Parramatta to Lidcombe via Newington. Additional services will also operate on routes 521, 523, 524 and 525.
Other changes are being made to improve bus connections with M1 Sydney Metro services allowing better connections, reduce crowding on services with high demand improve reliability, and enhance the passenger experience.
Updated timetable and route information will be available approximately two weeks prior to the introduction of the new services. We encourage passengers to plan their trip in advance using Transport’s Trip Planner.

Bus improvements in North West Sydney from 21 June 2026 – Route 52
From Sunday 21 June 2026, the NSW Government is reinstating the connection between Parramatta and the City, via West Ryde, based on community feedback. The new service will be known as Route 52.
The route will improve bus connections for communities in Parramatta and West Ryde primarily to provide faster access for the community to and from the City.
Bus Route 52 has been added to the All Day Frequent Network (ADFN) which refers to bus routes that operate every 10 minutes or better and every 20 minutes or better early morning and late evening, seven days a week.
This service is designed to provide frequent and reliable transportation options across Sydney, particularly in areas that require more frequent bus services. It aims to improve connectivity and service frequency, aligning with passenger needs and travel patterns.
There will also be minor changes to other nearby bus services.
This is part of the first stage of growth services across the region, funded through the Government’s $150 million investment in the FY25/26 budget to improve bus services.
The reinstated service will give West Ryde residents a much needed, fast and direct link to Parramatta and the City, supporting easier access to jobs, education, healthcare and major activity centres across the region.

Back to school 2026 - bus changes
- The changes aim to support new school bell times and support growth in these communities, and include providing better coverage in high density areas, like Bella Vista.
- A number of routes have been adjusted to accommodate Kellyville High School’s new bell times and improve network coverage.
- A new bus route, 2005 will operate in the morning from Rouse Hill Town Centre to Kellyville High School via Beaumont Hills improving coverage and capacity.
- Routes have been extended or retimed to include schools like William Clarke College and Our Lady of the Rosary to accommodate wider area changes.
- Box Hill High School will open in 2026, and bus route 2120 has been retimed in the morning to arrive before the new bell time.
Previous bus announcements
From Monday 15 December, there will be timetable changes to some school bus services in North West Sydney.
These changes are being made to provide improved journey options for school students residing in the Melonba and Marsden Park areas.
Included in these changes is a new school bus route 6632 (Melonba Public School to Melonba via Abell Road) which will help provide students with more transport options whilst helping to reduce crowding on other bus routes.
Transport and our bus operators are working closely with schools that may be impacted by these changes, to ensure students and their communities are aware of the changes, and how they need to adjust their journeys. We encourage students to plan before they travel.

To ensure dedicated school services appear as a travel option for students, click ‘refine’ and select the ‘school bus’ option. Students are reminded to tap on and off on all trips.

From Sunday 30 November, there will be adjustments to some bus routes and timetables across North West Sydney.
These changes include:
- Upgrading route 665 to an All Day Frequent Network (ADFN).
- Timetable adjustments to better match passenger demand.
- Increased use of higher capacity buses in some areas.
- Improving North-West bus connections to M1 Metro services.
- Introducing 2 new school services to provide students at Box Hill Public School a safe and reliable journey to and from school.

From Monday 19 May 2025, there will be timetable changes and route changes to provide improved travel options for students on some bus routes, including dedicated school services.
We encourage passengers and school communities to plan their journeys using the TfNSW Trip Planner which will be updated before Monday 19 May. To ensure dedicated school services appear as a travel option for students, click refine and select the school bus option.
Changes include:
- Bus route 677 will have some minor timetable and route adjustments to the morning service. It will now operate via Bourke Street bus stop passengers can alight here for Richmond Agricultural Center at Western Sydney University.
- Bus route 747 and 748 will have select trips in the mornings and afternoons to provide students of Melonba High School and Melonba Public School traveling to and from Melonba and Elara Estate with more travel options.

Changes to bus stops on Miller Street, North Sydney
From Sunday 30 March 2025, three bus stops along Miller Street, North Sydney will no longer operate.
The changes are to enable better connections with Sydney Metro, bus services will operate from an existing bus stop close by.
Bus stops no longer operating in North Sydney:
- Miller Street at McLaren Street (TSN 206047), passengers can catch their regular services from the bus stop at Victoria Cross Station, Miller Street, Stand B.
- Miller Street after McLaren Street (TSN 206019), passengers can catch their regular services from the bus stop at Victoria Cross Station, Miller Street Stand A.
- Civic Park, Miller St (TSN 206082), students can catch their regular services from the bus stop at Victoria Cross Station, Miller Street, Stand B.

On Monday 3 March 2025, there will be timetable changes designed to provide passengers in the Sydney, North West and Hills District with better connections and a more reliable bus network.
The changes will also make it easier for commuters to access stations along the new Metro line to provide alternatives to driving and offer a smoother combined commute.
What’s changing?
Bus services in the Sydney, North West and the Hills District are being adjusted to better align to the community’s public transport needs. This will improve connections with Sydney Metro and the newly opened Parramatta Light Rail.
Key changes include:
- new service route 590 Hornsby to Pennant Hills
- changes to routes 288, 513, 523, 524, 544
- timetable changes on 252, 261, 265, 292, 500X, 506, 546, N90, N91, 605, 610X, 611, 612X, 616X, 652X

- more services on routes 605, 610X, 611
- route 712 Westmead Children’s Hospital discontinued.

Changes to schools
On 19 January 2025, Transport introduced bus timetable changes designed to provide the community with better connections and more reliability in Sydney’s North West bus network.
Some areas will see more services and extended operating hours, with increased frequency for some routes, especially at peak times. Areas including:
- Tallawong
- Rouse Hill
- Riverstone
- Schofields
- Box Hill
- Bella Vista
- North Kellyville.
