Rural and Regional Seatbelt Program Taskforce
All seven recommendations in the Rural and Regional Bus Seatbelt Program Taskforce Report have been accepted by the Government.
In October 2012 the School Bus Safety Community Advisory Committee Report (PDF 3.1MB) was published. The Report consisted of thirty-five recommendations accepted by the NSW Government, including the installation of seatbelts on dedicated school buses and to prohibit students from standing on unsealed roads and on high speed roads outside urban areas.
In June 2017, Transport for NSW announced the expansion and acceleration of the program to include all of the rural and regional bus fleet (PDF 80.6KB).
In 2019, Minister Toole commissioned the Rural and Regional Bus Seatbelt Program Taskforce to examine issues with the Rural and Regional Seatbelt Program. The independantly chaired Taskforce has concluded and the seven recommendations in the Rural and Regional Bus Seatbelt Program Taskforce Report have been accepted by Government.
