Transport Asset Manager of NSW is the owner of NSW rail assets.

Transport Asset Manager of NSW (TAM) is the proud owner of railway network assets across NSW including tracks, trains, stations and significant land holdings around stations such as retail spaces.

For more than 150 years, our public transport and freight rail networks have been a driving force behind NSW’s growth. From the cities to the regions, millions of people use our assets every year.

Our assets

Rail infrastructure

We manage 1,550km of the metropolitan rail network, 2,500km of the country rail network track, 3,100km of the non-operational country rail network track, 967 bridges and 70 tunnels.

Owned land

We manage and care for 302 million m2 of owned land.

Rolling stock

We manage 1876 electric and diesel cars.

Stations and facilities

We manage 395,000m2 of commercial gross lettable area, 355 stations, 328 retail outlets, 539 lifts and 149 escalators.

Rail signaling systems

We manage 4300 signals.

Electrified network

We manage 159 electrical sub-stations and section huts.
