Condobolin Health Service facility improvements to ensure safety and comfort of staff
After many years of wear and tear Condobolin Health Service is beginning wok to upgrade the Nurse Unit Manager's office flooring, with work to be undertaken in late April 2026.
Condobolin Health Service Manager Leona Fisher said the work is being completed to ensure the facility remains up to date with work and healthy safety standards, to maintain a safe environment for staff.
“Before we can replace the flooring, we need to safely remove the lining under it which contains asbestos," Ms Fisher said.
“Asbestos removalists will be brought in to carry out the work. We will also have an independent specialist to monitor the air quality and who will work with the asbestos removalist team.
“Staff and management at the Health Service will be working with both teams to ensure everything is being done to keep the staff, patients and visitors safe”
A number of safety measures will be in place during the works, to ensure the safety of not just staff but also patients, visitors and contractors completing the project, including,
• The asbestos removal area is segregated from the remainder of the hospital through the use of temporary walls and plastic sheeting.
• The area will be under constant negative air pressure, through the use of a negative air pressure exhaust fans.
• There will be constant air monitoring around the work site.
"The Nurse Manager will temporarily relocate to another office within the health service during works," Ms Fisher said.
"The Ambulance parking and access ramp will be temporarily closed, with Ambulance parking being relocated to the emergency drop off bay and the Emergency Department ramp being used for entry to the health service.
"Vehicle access to the health service main entry will be restricted with pedestrian access being directed using signage along the roadway to the main entry. Clear signage will be in place to help patients and visitors with the changes."
