
Dr Skye Charry has practised, researched and consulted on sex discrimination law in rural contexts for almost 20 years. Skye co-founded S.A.C. Consulting Australia, which provides bespoke gender equity programs to government, industry and the education sector in the bush and beyond. She is an Associate Professor of Law at the University of New England and also consults for law firms on sex discrimination matters. Skye's pioneering book, Whispers from the Bush: The Workplace Sexual Harassment of Australian Rural Women, put the complexities of sexual harassment in rural workplaces on the national agenda. A short documentary film based on her work, Grace Under Fire was produced by the Victorian Women's Trust.
Skye recently partnered with Women in Seafood Australasia on a government-funded project towards safer, more inclusive workplaces in the Australian seafood industry. She recently reviewed the culture of NSW Forestry Corporation and delivered state-wide training. Skye consults for the federal government on gender equity in the meat industry and also conducts sexual harassment training for the legal profession.
Skye was recently awarded the University of Canberra Chancellor’s Distinguished Young Alumni Award. Her recent service roles have included Chair of the ACT Ministerial Advisory Council for Women, Vice President of YWCA Canberra and Associate at Insight Exchange Australia. Skye also sits on the Australian & New Zealand Mental Health Association committee.
