The Women in Business program, launched by TAFE NSW in January 2020, aims to empower women running small businesses in New South Wales. It offers a range of bite-sized topics that cover essential areas of business, including finance, business, marketing technology and wellbeing. The program features monthly live webinars that are recorded and made available on the Women in Business Moodle page for ongoing access.
Since its inception, the program has seen impressive growth, with participation increasing by about 800 members each quarter, totalling over 24,700 registrations to date. The initiative has now been extended to June 2027, continuing its mission to support women entrepreneurs.
The Women in Business program offers high-quality resources that are continually accessible to all participants. Once registered, participants can access a comprehensive back catalogue of content alongside new materials, allowing them to engage with the program at their convenience based on their individual business journeys.

Originally designed for women in NSW who were already running small businesses, the program recognised a growing need for resources and support for women contemplating entrepreneurship. In response, it revised its eligibility criteria to remove the requirement for a current ABN, enabling more women to join and benefit from the program. This inclusive approach has further expanded its reach and impact.
Woman laptop The free webinars were brilliantly helpful in my startup phase, giving me a lot of knowledge, including a recent session on the GST (Goods and Services Tax), which was the most clear and concise explanation of the GST anyone has ever given me.

Women laptop I also really loved the supportive network on the TAFE NSW – Women in Business Facebook page. When I’ve asked questions, I’ve found helpful answers and I love the small motivational posts — sometimes they are just what you need to hear.
