About the event
In partnership with St John Ambulance, the Rural Women's Network (RWN) Skills Roadshow aims to upskill women living in regional and rural NSW. We’re offering free First Aid and Mental Health training to women in 15 regional locations across NSW.
The First Aid and Mental Health workshops cover important topics including safely responding to emergencies, CPR and supporting people in mental health crisis. The training is free and customised for women living in regional and rural areas. All levels of knowledge are welcome. You will need to complete a 1-4 hour online pre-learning before attending your registered training.
The Roadshow training is moving to 15 regional locations in NSW through the year, for women across the state.

The training is available from May to November 2025. We are visiting 15 locations across NSW, from Ballina to Bega. Information about the location will be emailed upon registration. Registration for the final five locations is now live.
Mental Health and First Aid training will run from 9:00 to 5:00pm on separate days in each location.

Training details
Day 1
The Mental Health & Crisis training (CHCCCS019) includes:
- What is mental health?
- What is a mental health crisis?
- Duty of care
- Principles of crisis intervention
- Recognising and responding to signs of a person who might be at risk
- Providing support to people at risk
- Where to go for assistance?
- Principles of self-care
Day 2
The First Aid training (HLTAID011) includes:
- Roles and responsibilities of the first aider
- The DRSABCD action plan and responding to emergency situations
- Managing unconscious casualties
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Using a defibrillator (AED)
- Diabetes and seizures
- Allergic reactions and Anaphylaxis
- Wound, burns and bleeding management
- Fractures and dislocations
- Hypothermia and hyperthermia
- Head, neck, and spinal injuries
- And responding to many other situations
Both trainings will require a brief online pre-learning component. St John will email the pre-learning to you before your training. The online pre-learning will take a maximum of four hours.
Upon completion after both training courses, you will receive a certificate of attainment and a nationally endorsed unit of competency.

This free training is available for women over 18 living in regional and rural NSW. Phase 2 of the Rural Women’s Skills Roadshow is now open. After visiting several locations, we’ve now opened registration for the next 5. Below are the buttons to register for the upcoming locations. We look forward to having you join us as we continue to support women in regional, rural and remote NSW.
Both First Aid and Mental Health trainings run from 9am to 5pm. You are welcome to register for one or both of these trainings. If you would like to attend both days of training, remember to select a ticket for both.
Complimentary lunch and refreshments are provided. Upon completion you will receive a formal qualification in First Aid or Mental Health & Crisis Support.

The Roadshow training is tailored for women over 18 living in regional and rural NSW.
The training is free of charge.
Catered lunch and light refreshments are provided. Upon completion of the First Aid or Mental Health & Crisis Support training, you will receive a nationally accredited certification.
This training welcomes all levels of knowledge and experience. Before the training you will be sent an online pre-learning from St John, which you must complete before the day. The pre-learning will take at most four hours to complete.
Yes, we welcome all women with different accessibility needs to attend. Information about the location will be emailed upon registration. Please contact us with any questions about venue accessibility.
All training will have a registration waitlist should they exceed capacity. If you register and can no longer attend, please advise us. We will offer the place to someone else on the waitlist. If you register for both training days and do not attend the first day of training without notifying us, you will automatically be removed from the second day of training.
You will receive a formal certificate via email from St John Ambulance 48-72 hours after your training. You must provide your Unique Student Identifier (USI) to obtain a formal qualification.
