Exceptional staff and teams were recognised as the centrepiece of celebrations marking 117 years since the opening of the original Auburn Hospital.
The Granville Electorate Cottage Hospital officially opened in 1909, later changing its name to the Auburn District Hospital in 1920, an enduring change reflecting the growth of the community it would serve.
“For over a century, Auburn Hospital has been a pillar of caring and supporting Western Sydney from its humble beginnings to the thriving healthcare facility that we see today,” Kyle said.
General Manager of the Auburn Hospital, Kyle Cain, gave the keynote address as kindness awards, service recognitions and general manager awards were given out.
“You are the reason Auburn hospital continues to be a one of the best rated places of healing,” Kyle said.
“As we celebrate 117 years of service, let us carry forward in the same spirit that has brought us this far, lead us in compassion, innovation and a deep commitment to those that we serve,” Kyle said.
Four general manager awards were given out, celebrating values such as compassion and empathy, providing great health care, achievement goals and innovative thinking.
Klara Vojvoda won the category of Leading our values displaying compassion, beingdescribed as being the heart of the team and a manager who leads with kindness.
Auburn Rehabilitation Ward won the General Manager’s award for Providing great healthcare and/or Patient Experience. The unit was nominated and recognised as they “exemplify the power of multidisciplinary teamwork, as clearly highlighted in the feedback received”.
The third General Manager’s award category achieving goals and outcomes was awarded to Iris Ly for ‘consistently working to a high standard and maintains professionalism at all times’.
The fourth category acknowledges innovation in training and was awarded to Rabina Sharma Thapa Magar, who was described as “as an excellent leader, teacher and work colleague.”
Staff were presented with service awards, for milestone work anniversaries for 10, 15 and 20 years.
Paulette Renouf received a service award for twenty years of service at Auburn Emergency Department administration, and is ready to work for another twenty more.
“I just love all of it. I love the people, and I like helping people. If anyone needs help within the department, we all do it. We work as a team,” Paulette says.
Paulette gets a real joy from working with great people, and helping her community.
“We’re a close knit team. We work very well and we all pull together,” Paulette says.
