The 2025 Western Sydney Local Health District Annual Public Meeting (APM) was held in December at Atura Blacktown, a key opportunity to connect with our community.
A function of all local health districts, the annual public meeting is a chance for members of the community to hear directly from the Board and the Chief Executive, and for the community to speak directly with the leaders of the District.
Chair of the Board, Loretta di Mento and board members along with Acting Chief Executive Amanda Larkin, joined executives, clinicians, partners and consumers sharing their story.
“This is a district that is deeply committed to the people of Western Sydney. Over a million people depend on the public health services of Western Sydney Local Health District,” Amanda said.
“The clinical care delivery, the teaching and education that we provide and the research and innovation; it's that triumvirate that ensures that health continues to grow,” Amanda said.
The presentations highlighted the significant future impact of the Single Patient Digital Record on our health system and the strength of research and clinical trials which put Western Sydney at the forefront of change.
“The organisation needs to have a clear vision of where we want to go over the next three to 5 years that recognises this changing area. This vision will show how we will further develop our networked services across the district that people can access in the best and most appropriate way” Amanda said.
District Board Chair, Loretta Di Mento, shared the Board’s enthusiasm for Western Sydney’s future.
“Our population in Western Sydney is expected to grow by 10% over the next 5 years. This rapid population growth means we must be equipped to meet healthcare demand with future-ready services and systems,” Loretta said.
“Our cultural and demographic diversity is one of our greatest strengths, and when we look at some of the trends in our communities, with the higher proportion of community born overseas, with very high rates of our residents speaking a language other than English at home, we really have some unique opportunities to innovate and deliver models of care that meet all of those needs of the community.”
Launched at the meeting, is the WSLHD Year in Review 2024-25 (PDF 8.49MB), a capture of some of the highlights from across our District along with the District’s Safety and Quality Account (PDF 18.7MB) which outlines our ongoing commitment to embedding National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards into every aspect of our operations.
“Congratulations to all Western Sydney Local Health District staff on such an incredible year,” Loretta said.
