Two Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) staff alumni have been recognised in the 2025 Australian Honours and Awards.
Each year, every day Australians are recognised for their extraordinary contributions to society by the Governor-General in the Australian Honours system.
Both of these recipients embody the values essential to a thriving society: generosity, courage and outstanding service to community:
Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in the General Division
Professor Thomas Gottlieb Microbiologist, New South Wales Mycobacterial Reference Laboratory, Department of Clinical Microbiology, Centre for Infectious Diseases and Microbiology, ICPMR, Westmead Hospital, 1990 – 1995.
Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the General Division
Professor Paul Andrew Glare Senior Staff Specialist and Area Advisor, Palliative Care, Westmead Hospital, 1994-1998.
“It gives me immense pride to share that two former staff members from WSLHD have been acknowledged for their exceptional contributions in the 2025 Australian Honours and Awards,” Graeme Loy, Chief Executive, said.
“Please join me in congratulating Professor Gottlieb and Professor Glare – each a shining example of the extraordinary character and dedication of our people, both past and present, across WSLHD.”
Graeme also took a moment to recognise the hard work and dedication of WSLHD’s current workforce.
“I would also like to extend my gratitude to everyone who worked over the long weekend supporting our patients and their families.”
Your dedication to provide safe and high-quality healthcare every day exemplifies the values we celebrate at this time of year.
