Sterilising Technician Juanita Cambel has folded up her scrubs for the final time after more than three decades working in healthcare.
Juanita started her career in 1988 at Concord Hospital and moved to Mount Druitt Hospital in 1991 where she remained for more than 30 years.
“I enjoy every minute working at Mount Druitt Hospital and will miss all the people in the department and across both hospitals,” Juanita said.
They are like my family, and we all share our problems, have fun going out socialising for birthday and other special occasions.

As a sterilising technician Juanita is responsible for cleaning and sterilising all the medical instruments that are used during surgery.
Sterilising Services Team Leader Victoria Vergara said Juanita’s impact on the team has been tremendous.
“She will be dearly missed and deserves time off to relax and enjoy herself,” Victoria said.
Juanita was described as always cheerful and a hard-working person.
Despite announcing her retirement, Juanita’s commitment to the team is clear as she already has plans to return on a casual basis.
“I live with my husband and son, and they work so I will be by myself. I’d rather be at the hospital with my other extended family”, Juanita said.
