About the Westmead Education and Conference Centre
The Westmead Education and Conference Centre (WECC) facilities are available for all University of Sydney and Western Sydney LHD staff and students participating in education, training and research activities.
The WECC offers a modern and creative space that inspires flexible learning and teaching activities. State-of-the-art technology in architecturally designed rooms foster active learning and collaboration. These designs have been developed in consultation with the University of Sydney as well as other leading educational institutions.
The facility is also available to external patrons; you will need to make a booking for all events.
How to book the Westmead Education and Conference Centre
Before you book the Westmead Education and Conference Centre (WECC) you will need to consider a range of details so we can prepare for your event. These details include:
- Date and time of booking
- Name of event
- Event coordinator contact details
- Number of attendants
- Do you need registration tables?
- Do you need display tables?
- Do you need audio visual equipment?
- Do you need catering?
- Will you need tables for catering?
The WECC is not responsible for cleaning external catering, this must be organised by event coordinator. An additional cleaning fee may be charged if catering is not cleared after the event.

We have a wide range of event and meeting rooms, facilities and equipment available.
Fees and charges apply for functions and bookings at the WECC.

WECC also have guidelines for:
Westmead Hospital is a short walk from Westmead train station and there is a bus stop near the main entrance. Parking is available but limited during business hours.
WECC is located on the same level of the main entrance and is accessible by wheelchair.
Hearing aid loops are available for the John Loewenthal Auditorium.
Wheelchair access is also available for the:
- lecture theatre 1 (located on level 2)
- case study
- cabaret theatre
- flexible teaching rooms (located on level 1)
Operating hours
- The Westmead Education and Conference Centre (WECC) is open from 7.30am to 6.30pm on weekdays.
- Access outside these hours is considered out of hours.
- All day on weekends and public holidays is also out of hours.
Booking a venue outside operating hours
- WECC staff approve all out of hours bookings in line with these guidelines.
- The Western Sydney LHD and the University of Sydney are the main users of the WECC. Requests from other organisations will be considered after the needs of these users are met.
- All users must submit the online booking form and include billing details for out of hours bookings.
- A concierge is required for all weekend and out of hours bookings.
- Costs are outlined in the WECC Venue Charges 2018 document.
Access outside operating hours
Level 1 access
- Venue hirers will be provided with one WSLHD security card.
- Cards can be collected from the WECC Office up to 24 hours before the booking.
- For bookings with 20 or more attendees, a second card may be requested, subject to availability.
Level 2 access
- Access is available by showing your booking confirmation to security. They will unlock the venue for you.
Ongoing access
- Ongoing out of hours access is not available for WSLHD, University of Sydney, or external users.
