About our service
Medical imaging (also called radiology or diagnostic imaging) uses different technologies to create pictures of the inside of your body. These images show bones, organs and tissues, helping doctors diagnose, treat and monitor medical conditions.
Each imaging method provides different information about the body part being examined or treated.

Referral and appointments
We accept all valid medical imaging referrals, even if they are not addressed to our hospitals.
For tests that require an appointment, call imaging reception.

Costs
All eligible tests are fully covered by Medicare, so there are no out-of-pocket costs.
Fees apply for any tests not covered by Medicare.
What to bring
Please bring:
- your referral letter
- your Medicare card
- any previous scans for the same body area or condition
- a list of your medications, including any over-the-counter or herbal medicines
- comfortable clothing
- glasses, hearing aid or walking frame (if needed)
- your carer if you need help moving or using the toilet.
Test results
Your test results will be faxed to your referring doctor.
You can also collect them directly from the medical imaging department.
