About our sexual health services
The WSSHC is a public sexual health service funded by NSW Health. Our clinics are located in Mount Druitt and Parramatta. All services are free and confidential. No Medicare card is required.
We provide care to:
- people living with HIV/AIDS
- gay and other men who have sex with men
- trans and gender diverse people
- sex workers
- people who inject drugs
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- people with STI-related symptoms
- people who had sexual contact with someone with HIV or an STI.
If you are not included in any of the listed groups, we may refer you to a GP (doctor) or another service.
We operate on an appointment-based system. Please call us on (02) 9843 3124 during opening hours if you'd like to make an appointment or have any questions.
If you attend the clinic without an appointment, we may not be able to see you on the day unless it is an urgent matter.

Our specialist sexual health team helps with:
- information and advice about sexual health and sexually transmissible infections (STIs)
- testing and treatment for STIs, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), and Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C
- Pre- and Post- Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP and PEP) for people at risk of HIV. Learn about PrEP and PEP on the NSW Health website.
- contact tracing
- management, care and support for HIV
- social work support and case management
- Hepatitis A and B vaccinations (free to people who are most at risk)
- Mpox (monkeypox) vaccinations
- free condoms and lubricant

Our Parramatta clinic is open from 4 to 7pm every Thursday for people who cannot attend during business hours. All services are free and confidential.

Our social workers support people with sexual health related issues and concerns, including:
- adjusting to, and living with HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C, and STIs
- sexuality and/or gender
- PrEP and PEP
- sex work
- relationships.
We offer emotional support to our patients during challenging times or times of crises. We also provide:
- case management
- education and advocacy
- referral to other health services like mental health and drug health and alcohol services.
An Aboriginal sexual health promotion officer is based at the Mount Druitt Aboriginal Health Hub.
The officer supports Aboriginal people by:
- providing culturally respectful and responsive service.
- working with the community on education and engagement with our sexual health services.

- To make an appointment, call (02) 9843 3124.
- We have an automated phone system:
- press 1 if you are new to our service, have symptoms, or have had unprotected sex in the last 72 hours.
- press 2 if you have been to this service before, have no concerns but need an appointment.
- Our staff will ask you a few questions to make sure we are the right service for you.
- You will need to register online before your appointment. We will send you a link to our registration form in a text message.
- You can also register at the clinic. Please arrive 15 minutes earlier than your appointment time to complete your registration.
- You will receive a reminder text message 7 days before your appointment. Remember to reply quickly (within 48 hours) to confirm or cancel your appointment.
- If cannot make your appointment or need to change your appointment, call the clinic.

Your first visit
- If you have not registered online before your appointment, please arrive 15 minutes earlier than your appointment time to complete your registration at the clinic.
- Please bring identification documentation that provide the same name and date of birth each time you visit.
- We will ask you for your phone number and email address to contact you as needed.
Note: We try to be on time with appointments. We may run late on busy days. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
A doctor or nurse will ask some questions to provide the care you need. This can include questions about your health, any sex or sex-related risks you've experienced recently.
Screening for sexually transmissible infections (STIs) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is simple and easy. A sexual health checkup can include:
- blood tests
- urine and swab tests (you can collect your own swabs)
- genital examination.
Your results
We will ask you to make another appointment if we need to discuss your results or if you need follow-up care. Remember, no news is good news.

Information for health professionals
In this section, health professionals can find information relating to patient criteria and exclusions, and referral information for our Mount Druitt and Parramatta clinics.
Criteria and exclusions
We prefer referrals and appointments. General referrals are accepted for patients with:
- complicated or persistent STIs
- HIV infection
- difficulty adjusting to an STI or HIV diagnosis
- proven STI or HIV (for assistance with contract tracing)
- positive syphilis serology, for treatment and contact tracing
- men who have sex with men, and sex workers for STI/HIV screening.
Exclusions
- Sexual dysfunction
- Symptomatic heterosexual patients who are not in a high-risk group. They will be referred back to general practice at the point of triage (service prioritisation).
If you are unsure whether the patient is suitable for referral:
- call (02) 9843 3124 and ask to speak with the triage nurse.
- fax your referral letter to the Paramatta clinic at (02) 8836 2933 or email WSLHD-WSSHC@health.nsw.gov.au
- ask the patient to bring the referral letter to their appointment. Patients must have a confirmed appointment and can call our clinics to book an appointment.
- include the patient's sexual health referral information (clinical history, treatment, examination results, copies of all HIV and/or STI results).

Our sexual health medicine academic team at the University of Sydney Medical School has a long history in teaching and research in sexual health and HIV.
Our academics provide clinical services and help specialist trainees gain experience in the prevention and treatment of STIs at 3 large publicly funded sexual health clinics in Sydney.
