Wharf wonders

Set within Kamay Botany Bay National Park and built as part of the National Parks and Wildlife Service Kurnell Master Plan, the wharves at La Perouse and Kurnell provide improved access, comfort, and connection to Country, offering a welcoming space for everyone.

What makes them special?

  • Thoughtful design: Timber, steel, and concrete come together in a style inspired by traditional boats and historic wharves.
  • Easy access for all: Wide pathways and handrails make it safer and more comfortable for everyone – including people using prams, wheelchairs, or mobility aids – while dedicated berthing facilities on one side ensure recreational and commercial vessels can dock securely.
  • Celebrating culture: Aboriginal artwork is beautifully embedded into the jetty surfaces and roof panels, adding a deeper connection to Country. Boomerang-shaped planters and the elevated Timbery Reserve Plaque further honour local heritage.
  • Relax and take in the view: Seating areas offer peaceful spots to look out over the bay and nearby landmarks and to glimpse the marine life below.
  • Inspired by nature: Tree-like columns, gentle lighting, and native plants help integrate the wharves into the surrounding landscape.

Whether you're fishing, walking, docking your vessel, or simply soaking up the scenery, these wharves invite you to connect with the land, the water, and the stories that shape this place.
