Our Bike Bus rides are guided by trained leaders and help you get familiar with the bike route to Sydenham, Redfern or Tempe stations.
How does it work?
- The Bike Bus is led by two experienced guides and is designed to give riders confidence and familiarity with a bike route - and to be fun!
- We will ride at the speed of the slowest rider. This can be anywhere from a gentle average speed of around 15kph up to 20 - 25kph.
- If it rains, we generally will still ride. If it is very heavy rain, or other severe weather, we will cancel on the day and contact participants by email or text as soon as possible.
- If someone gets a puncture or has other mechanical issues, we will pause the bike bus and wait together to get it fixed.
Managing risk
- The benefit of a bike bus is that as more people ride, the group has higher visibility and presence.
- However, you are responsible for your own safety. You will be asked to sign a waiver before joining, and you should be aware that riding a bike will always come with some level of risk.
What to bring
- A bike and helmet.
- Lock to secure your bike at the destination.
- Enclosed shoes.
- Lights, water, sunscreen also recommended.
