The works 

Vessel operators are advised that Polaris Marine Constructions Pty Ltd will be undertaking works to remove derelict and redundant marine infrastructure including old mooring piles from the foreshore and harbour areas on the navigable waters of Sydney Harbour at Berrys Bay. The works will commence on Thursday, 7 August 2025 and continue until approximately August 2027. 

Construction/Exclusion Zone

The works will occur in three stages: - marine site investigations, demolition and finally seawall and slip way construction.  Works will be carried out by crane barges, tugs, work boats and various support vessels. A silt curtain will be installed to indicate a marine construction zone and special marker buoys will create an exclusion zone. Yellow special markers buoys and work barges will be lit. 

Navigation Restriction and Warning 

All vessel operators and persons in the vicinity must exercise extreme caution when navigating in the vicinity, keep a proper lookout, minimise vessel wash, keep well clear of the exclusion zone and work vessels and reduce speed in the vicinity. This navigation restriction and warning remains in place for the duration of the works.

Directions

Transport for NSW advises:

• No unauthorised vessels or persons are permitted to enter the zone and to do so may be an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s.18B(4) — Maximum Penalty $1,100.00).
• Vessels are required to maintain a safe distance and speed from the works and operators are reminded that the production of wash which impacts unreasonably on the works is an offence. (Marine Safety Regulation 2016 – clause 11(2)) - Maximum Penalty $5,500.00)
